Ok I have Possessor and Angel Heart on my watch list now, I might actually watch Angel Heart soon. Surprised I never heard of it before.

I watched The Loved Ones which is a solid trapped & tortured horror. Definitely skeeved me out a bunch and had a finale that made me smile even if it was very telegraphed.

Extracurricular Activities was VERY good and Im surprised there hasnt been much buzz about it. Its predictable but almost in a good way, like sometimes youll be thinking I hope that character says this next and then they do, lol. Its predictable but also has some snappy dialogue and really incredible acting by the entire cast.

Colour Out of Space

Hereditary just did not do it for me, but I liked Midsommar a lot. Color Out of Space was a decent watch but very much wasted potential imo. As far as recent Nic Cage horror films go, I had a lot more fun with Willys Wonderland.

Cloverfield Lane, The Ritual, The Ring, Halloween 18 are all very good.

Couple others I liked recently:

Apostle (on Netflix)

Scare Me (on Shudder, written by and starring CollegeHumor alum Josh Rubin, featuring Aya Cash (Stormfront from The Boys) and Chris Redd who is hilarious as usual. It feels a bit stretched thin at feature length but they had a lot of fun with the concept.

I actually disliked much of the first film but thought it totally came around by the end. I enjoyed the 2nd one far more though. The execution is way better and the characters are much more likable. I liked the 3rd, and Ive seen people call it their favorite of the trilogy.

the first movie is usually considered the worst one
the second and third movies are much better

but you might just not be the target audience anymore
it may have gore but its a movie still squarely aimed at teens.
just young enough where watching the movie still feels like something taboo for them to do

i like seeing teen wolf actors getting work at least
dylan obrien is the most successful out of the cast but seeing holland roden in a mainstream movie was nice even if she ||gets melted by acid||

the woman who played allison actually left teen wolf to further her career but she like completely disappeared after leaving well everyone else is still working consistently

Annihilation did way more with a similar concept. Color Out of Space was best when it was running cosmically (is that a word?) wild, but it didnt do it often enough.

I liked Us alright but it felt pretty generic, didnt stand out to me like Get Out.

oh that one movie is pretty good starring glenn from the walking dead
mayhem

its more action than horror but it has a high body count
an office building gets infected with a virus that makes them super aggressive and unable to control their actions. the building is quarantined and there is a cure being poured through the vents so in a few hours everyone will be cured
but until the cure kicks in no one is legally responsible for their actions so people use this opportunity to get revenge on their bosses and such

freaky is pretty good as well
its about a teenage girl who switches bodies with a serial killer and she has to stop him as he starts killing her friends with her body

Nice, I can watch all these on Hulu. RedLetterMedia recommended Relic so I was already thinking of checking that one out.

I do tend to prefer snappy, fight-for-survival type horrors to slow burns and psychological stuff. Comedy is also appreciated. Based on that, would you say In The Earth fits my style most of those films?

It's funny, I love the Kill Count (Dead Meat) youtube series and I agree with James most of the time. I watched part 1 before the kill count video and struggled with it. James had the exact crticisms I did and fucking took the words out of my mouth about it. He also said he liked the other ones better. 2 was indeed an improvement and I haven't watched 3 yet but I expect it to at least be on par with 2 which means it doesn't piss me off with hurr durr neighboring town high schools bullshit which 2 actually toned down a lot. Like seriously 1 felt like it was written by a 12 year old for 12 year olds but edgy enough for 15 year olds... until the grocery store part. Then it was decent. Those 2 kills stood out more than anything in 2 even though 2 was better overall. I feel like it tried to make a twist with the names of the sisters and fell on its face with that but I didn't care. I was less frequently reminded that half of the fucking locale was a less Trailer Park Boys version of Sunnyvale. That annoyed me about the first one. They were all like "High school rivalry!!" and I was like "no Ricky, no Lahey, no give a fuck , let's move on..."
