I really did not like the initial start of having a new main character playing along side Sora but they totally make you fall in love with Roxas in the beginning. Terribly sad when he finds out he's a Nobody and his destiny is to be part of Sora when he truly wants to be his own person.

The relationship he makes in fake Twilight Town and then he has to throw them away hit me hard. Great game!

Ill forever be amazed at how many levels that opening act works on, each of which depending on your prior experience with the series, either not at all, with only KH1, KH1 & CoM, and later with Days as well. It plays around with your expectations and understanding of the world masterfully. Its honestly unfair how much the rest of the game doesnt even come close to that sort of narrative play

I hated the part of the prologue where you have to gather money. Shit takes waaaaay too long.

Hated it when i played it at launch. Years later, without the expectations i had before, it is really well-written for a KH plot, and comes off as genuine, unlike a KH plot.

And then you play the rest of the game and wish it was just a Roxas story.

I swear that the only reason the franchise survived post-KH2 was because of the fandom being goddamn obsessed with Org XIII. They really were cool as all hell.

They were at least semi-smypathetic and more interesting as a group back in KH2 when they were people who just wanted their hearts back. Half of them coming back for KH3 just to further Xehanort's own personal goal of wiping out the universe is like...what?

My favorite is when DDD teased a new Organization XIII...and then half of the are just the same Organization XIII.

Esp when it was right after a game (DDD) where they were so desperate for a 13th member that they had to come up with some convoluted way to trap Sora in his own dreams.

Then it turns out they not only already had 13 members, but they actually had a surplus of extra benched members to boot lol

Well I love it and I know plenty of other people do as well. I'm sorry for having different priorities in video games than getting to the "punching things with keys" part.

Roxas and Org 13 ruined the series. The whole point of KH was supposed to be Squeenix and Disney character crossovers with a few basic OCs to help facilitate fighting the most badass Disney villains. But the second the first game had sequels greenlit it's just Nomura cramming his concepts for a completely different original game into it and just keeping the most basic Disney obligations to get funding. The same thing is kinda happening with FF7.

The OCs would have been more tolerable if they were tied to their own oringinal Squeenix game instead of forced into cringey mental gymnastics to keep visiting the Disney worlds over several pointless spinoffs.

Yeah, I do agree that the moment they were allowed more control over the series with the sequels, things did go off the rails with the Disney worlds and characters beginning to get shoved further and further into the background. And the FF characters don't even get the time of day anymore -- only showing up for a few minutes in DLC after fan backlash basically forced the devs to bring them back.

I'd love it if they went back to actually incorporating the Disney and FF into the plot again like in the first game. But they care too much about their OCs, and Disney is way too strict with their properties these days. The reason for visiting the Disney worlds in KH3 was such a contrived nonsense explanation.

Exception with Xigbar being Luxu, probably the only cool thing to come out of KH3.
