Im looking at a lot of reviews. Sites are giving it a 10 all around while players are comparing it to dishonored with some saying its more polished but less content. And the concept isn't fully realized thus giving it a 7-8.

Not sure who to believe. Maybe I'll wait for some youtube reviewers who I trust.

The last time they mattered was when Blockbuster was still a thing and people had to pick one game to rent.

It looked mid to me too until I saw gameplay. Tbh the constant trailers they shoved in our faces made the game looked worse than it was. The marketing team totally fucking screwed up in that regard.

I watched a gameplay video and it looked much better to me than the shit they were shoving in our faces all this time.

Also yeah, paid reviewers are the number one thing I look out for which is why this situation looks sketchy.

Well the last Jedi got 10s and 9s all over the place.

Remember when that one gamespot lady who gave cyberpunk 2077 pc version a low score whilst everyone was giving it 9s and 10s. She got absolutely lambasted by the legions of fans who hasn't even played the game at the time.

7 isn't really low. Good but not great or anything. They were essentially mad that she didn't like it as much as they did, which is other levels of other levels of pathetic.

Same thing happened with Jim Sterling after that Breath of the Wild review.

Assuming they're not paid reviews,which is a big assumption, I've found that sometimes straight 10s translate to "I really want people to play this game". Not necessarily a comment on its content, but its importance. Like, Braid got 9s and 10s across the board, but was meh outside of its central mechanic and its commentary the industry.

Deathloop is more than okay, a solid 8, but I would be superlative about it to anyone because it really deserves to be played.

Having said that, they're obviously paid reviews jfc

Well, I think it's obvious they are given free copies of the games to review.

Though being serious, regardless of if scores are incentivized I just think the accusation gets thrown around way too easily. It's like 9s and 10s are immediately thrown into suspicious territory, but anything lower and people dismiss the game as a flop because of lofty standards.

So who paid them? Sony, who's competitor is the one that made the game and will lose its exclusivity in a year. It's not like they're struggling for a perfect game to sell consoles...

Or would it be Microsoft who paid? Why would Microsoft pay reviewers to give out perfect scores on a game that's not on their platform yet?

Nah, the game is actually a pretty amazing game. How do I know? Because I can't stop playing it at night and keep thinking about it in the day.

I don't think there's any real conspiracy behind the 10s or anything but given what the game is I do find it a bit odd. You tend to think 10s are groundbreaking games with few issues but this is literally just Dishonored with a slightly different gimmick. Not groundbreaking at all. I enjoyed the Dishonored games but they do have many issues and from what I've heard and seen this game has most of those issues as well. But I haven't played it myself though so maybe I'm wrong.

It's amazingly great, IMO.

I got it on PC initially but it has pretty strange stuttering issues. At first I thought it was performance problems but the FPS was consistently above 80. Today I found out that it's actually related to how the mouse controls sync with the frame rate.
