For a Tales of game, the story is very muted and the cast is less bombastic than I'm used to. I like that the game is more grounded in mundane realities: racism, colonialism, and classism being the core elements of the story so far. Very real world.

yeah, tales casts are usually just an assembly of anime tropes, but generally there's at least one or two fun characters in each game. not so much in arise

People just haven't grown out of the idea that JRPG's have "Amazing storytelling and interesting characters!". I mean shit, people to this day act like the Golden Sun games were any good and that Dark Dawn was the one that was bad, when they all were. >_>
