For COVID-19, of course. It feels like this is as high of a vaccination rate as we're gonna get. People who haven't gotten vaccinated yet have no interest in it or are outright against it. Is there hope for a significantly higher rate of vaccinated population? Is this the best we could hope for?

I think it depends on how the narrative about past covid evolves. Since past covid is shown to confer superior immunity against reinfection even from known strains including Delta, and since 100+ million Americans by now would've had covid, it may be the case that a significant subset of the population is of the view that they already have the relevant antibodies.

Should this change so that we find that natural immunity wears off much faster than the most effective vaccine options available, then it may prompt more people to vaccinate since they'll not want to get covid again whenever the antibodies from natural immunity wear off. But there's evidence to suggest those will last a lifetime.

Mostly, and it's not enough for herd immunity. Mandates are the only way forward.

Not necessarily. I was never anti vax but just got my first shot like 2 weeks ago.

Some people just take a little longer, I guess

only mostly.

our country literally had pop up vaccination spots in popular shopping malls or grocery stores and a minor amount finally managed to get their shots.

so there are definitely people still on the fence but if they come across a convenient vaccination spot without needing prior appointments then there's a chance they'll think "might as well"

Depends on the country/age of the person. Many places still lagging on getting people vaccinated or enough out too them in the first place. I still think many of the anti vax idiots can be convinced when they start seeing their loved ones die though, but will be those that refuse and die themselves.

I think there's a difference between those that are hesitant and those that are anti-vaxx. The former group may be more open to hearing the perspective of those that have gotten vaccinated especially the vaccinated doesn't go into attack mode. Whereas the latter group are likely to have already have their minds made up and won't be swayed by a conversation.
