i was verbally assaulted by a customer service employee once. because i was taking a cart to my car and the person thought i was trying to leave the parking lot with the cart (was just steps from the store doors walking to the car).

Thatll get you fired. But yeah we have a process for abusive people, but if supervisor doesn't sign off on hanging up you have to take the call

I get that you're trying to threaten me but A, this is a phone that records everything, B, We literally do not support password reseting your email since it's internal to your company and we're not your company, we're a 3rd party for a service that isn't email and C, protocol establishes that we should hang up when someone is aggressive but honestly it's funnier to put you on loudspeaker and have the office listen to you

I got a verbal warning for that

I remember a guy screaming at me that he knew my boss personally and would tell him that I was incompetent.

He thought I worked for a different company than I did.

I was like, yeah sure buddy, you do what you feel you need to do.

Company we worked for (we were contractors) got it downgraded from a written to a verbal

Because they can't give you a straight answer.

They can't, they gotta stay in the gray area to make sure they don't guarantee you something their protocols tell them they can't.

I work at Whole Foods, and I'm a cashier assistant: I have no power, have never had any power, and have no desire to take on all the BS supervisors deal with for the cool, cool price of $1 extra per hour I'm serious. Supervisors get a $1/hr. pay bump. It's so, so not worth it. But I'm a tall dude with a mustache and favor kakhis(well, I present that way currently, anyway), so I conform to people's ideas of patriarchal authority.

Probably the most bizarre incident was the woman who was super upset and walked up to the service booth as I was passing by to go get carts. My supervisor(a small brunette woman) was on the phone ironically enough with the store manager. The lady had literally just gotten there, but rather than engage with my supervisor, she asked *me* for a manager(pretty sure I had just put on a reflective vest). I quickly referred her to my supervisor and excused myself, but she ranted about how my supervisor seemed unhelpful and then she followed me out and just started ranting at me about how much my store sucks and how much Connecticut sucks and how Connecticut ruins everything, and I'm just staring daggers at her the whole time(I've lived in CT most of my life. It's really not that bad) and how rude everyone is. I apologized in the most transparently insincere way possible(I couldn't bring myself to do otherwise) and she sneers about how I don't mean that, which prompted me to grin and she just storms off to her car.
Me and my supervisor had a good laugh about it after.

I actually just recently had a bad experience with a customer service rep. Had no interest in helping me, just told me "it is what it is".

Got called a Nazi Republican my second day on the job over the price of a sports registration. Dude flipped out and threatened to call the local tv station. Also been told I had no balls by someone who claims JFK Jr is still alive over a policy change in yard debris pick up.
Hooray for working in government lol
I use a lot of discernment skills to avoid people blowing up on me but sometimes the craziest ones will get the best of you.
