I can't speak for how things are going for the rest of the world, but America suffered Trump, anti-vaxxers, a rise in white supremacists, edgy neo liberal zoomers, and a losing war. We also don't mind getting kicked around by corporations so long as we can point the finger at the other side of the political fence and blame them. As if "someone to blame" is all you need out of life.
