If you choose to be homeless, you may stay at shelters generally open to the homeless provided that you follow their rules. You may eat at food pantries or shelters, or you may buy food using funds you earn through begging. Other than your begging income, your assets, credit cards, etc. will be frozen for the duration of the 30 days.

Homeless easily? Jail is only a consideration if it's freezing cold and I might die.

Jail gets you three hots and a cot. I've heard some homeless will commit petty crimes in the winter just to have shelter for a while.

If you wake up at a different time, in a different place, could you wake up as a different person?

Are you using jail literally or colloquially to mean any kind of legal confinement?

Literally. As far as Summer/Winter goes, I hadn't thought of that, so I guess you can assume the time of year will be randomly decided.

The amount of abuse that occurs in jail is so incredibly awful that even considering it as an option, even if you have no where else to go, is a TERRIBLE idea.

I'm trying to figure out how much of this is hypothetical question because the way you casually say "you may stay at shelters" is said in such a way that it sounds just like a fantasy in the same way as saying "you suddenly become homeless for this experiment". Homeless shelters are often EXTREMELY overcrowded and can be incredibly dangerous and harmful to stay at on their own. There's a reason a lot of homeless people choose to sleep on the streets over a shelter, it's often safer and more comfortable.

And it's also worth mentioning that in many places it's basically illegal to be homeless, so there's not even much a choice here. This topic is stupid.

Yes, the idea is that you are put in the position of a homeless person - nothing in the conditions of this hypothetical prevents you from staying at shelters, but there are lots of practical/logistical reasons why you might not.

One consideration is the resources I have. If I had some money but just not a legal residence, I could potentially find an okay spot to camp for a bit.

I chose homeless. Everything I know about jail and prison makes death by exposure sound almost comforting by comparison.
