Theyre all awesome, so this list is really hard to make. Death Proof is only last because it successfully achieved its goal of mimicking a B-movie. I still love it and love Kurt Russell in it.

4. Pulp Fiction

Jackie Brown is easily his best movie, IMO. I rank Pulp Fiction high on the list, because I literally went into it blind not having seen any trailers and not knowing who Tarantino was lol.

That I've seen:

  1. Pulp Fiction - I mean what can you say?
  2. Jackie Brown - It's different and slower and I think that's why I love it. Plus Pam Grier, Robert Forster, and Sam Jackson.
  3. Django Unchained - Just awesomness. Maybe a bit too long though. Seemed like they tacked on an end climax on top of a end climax.
  4. Reservoir Dogs - It just still has that special something about it.
  5. Inglorious Basterds - Has some awesome parts, but overall as a movie, eh. That bar scene where they play the game was a huge drag.
  6. Kill Bill - I need to rewatch them, but I know I wasn't really enchanted by them at the time. One day I'll give them another chance.
  7. Death Proof - Bleh. Just...wtf was that? Only good things about it Kurt Russel and the end car chase.

I could swap PF and JB. They're so close. I'm glad JB is getting love.

#1.) Once Upon A Time In Hollywood
  • An alternate history for old school Hollywood film buffs, more of a calmed down Tarantino universe along the lines of JB.

#2.) Pulp Fiction
  • Tarantino can try to paint over his own legacy all he wants (successfully at that, I might add) ~ but we all know what his real seminal masterpiece is.

#3/4.) Kill Bill (pts.1&2)
  • Kill Bill quietly changed the way audiences see their summer blockbuster & whet our appetites once more for sequels. The cinematography is tight but freeing, and highly influential in terms of shots, pace, and even Quentins color palette. A duet ahead of its time.

#5.) The Hateful Eight
  • Whats not to love? Tarantino returns to his roots, turns The Thing into 12 Angry Men, tries his hand at a real western, and makes one of the most beautifully filmed masterpieces of his career. This grandiosity of his later movies might distract some audience members from Hateful Eights genius, but dont get it twisted. This might be the post powerful post-Civil War film of all time not related to slavery.

#6.) Reservoir Dogs
  • This was the mans first movie and ranks up on the list for good reason. Tarantino throws out the old argument of style vs substance & delivers audiences a rich gangster odyssey in a day of quality higher than the standard set by the masters of noir. Part stage play, part black comedy, Reservoir Dogs showed the world a class the likes of which we seldom ever see.

#7.) Jackie Brown
  • A fan favorite, Jackie Brown lacks the mainstream popularity of many of its contemporaries but ranks high up on peoples top ten lists for good reasons. Supplanted deeper in the quiet side of life, Tarantino takes a stab at a more serious drama that draws laughs not out of slapstick or gore... but from the authenticity of its characters.

#8.) Django Unchained
  • Extremely powerful movie that isnt afraid to cross boundaries with the best recognizable cast you could ask for, and officially started a new chapter in Tarantinos career. Theres a lot to say about this film, but I suspect most of that will be said by moviegoers who already fell in love with Tarantinos style by the time they got around to watching Django.

#9.) Inglorious Basterds
  • One amazing movie! It ranks so low on this list of giants but it is actually one of the better movies of all time. Extremely different for Tarantino at the time of its making, Inglorious Basterds took a look at World War II Nazi France & opened up the book that would translate into Django Unchained.

#10.) Death Proof
  • Whether because its only half a movie, or if its because Death Proof is a truer retro (which I love), here we are at #10. I actually like Death Proof a lot & hold no terribly important criticisms over it. Its just not got the world-moving qualities of the other Tarantinos. As far as like serial slasher movies or car movies go tho, it is a must watch. IMO, you dont view Tarantino the same way as me if you dont love what he was going for and appreciate it for what it is.... a good B Movie (See: Bad Movie)

It's a good movie, but has those traits to get overrated in discussion boards

  1. one of the oldest movies
  2. doesn't get talked about as much
  3. is genuinely pretty decent
It's definitely nowhere near the masterpieces of like Pulp Fiction and his other works, but it's def worth watching.

I think your comment is indicative of poor verbal reasoning. We are clearly discussing how this thread has seen a lot of Jackie Brown or die posts/ratings, and how that is incongruent with that title's critical and public perception. On an individual level, having Jackie Brown as your favorite title doens't mean anything. Yet time and time again you see the slightly above middle of the road in a series heralded on forums. It's just a very repetitive behavior, and that repetition has caused me to think about it on a holistic (and not individualistic) level.
