What a ride. Can't believe this show made me care for characters like Ahsoka, Maul, Ventress, and the clones. I would legit start to feel bad when clones would get murdered by droids. They have such a messed up existence in a way, but they also have camaraderie. Also loved how Obi-Wan got a love interest. Makes him more human and likable.

This show really is Lucas's vision brought to its fullest. Those prequel movies just couldn't do all the world-building AND complex politics AND show how devastating the Clone Wars has been for various planets in the galaxy AND development for Jedi such as Anakin and Obi-Wan AND make the clones matter as individuals. If there's someone who I think the show didn't do quite enough with, it's Dooku. He's just a generic bad guy. Asajj got so much and even Grievous gets some introspection. Dooku is just the asshole all the way through the show. Nothing more about why he left the Order. What drives him. Etc.

The last batch of episodes of season 7...holy shit dude. That felt like a movie. I wish it was in theaters. The action moment where the burning Star Destroyer is crashing on to the planet and Asohka is free falling/hopping on debris to get to the escape ship was legit one of the coolest things in the series. You could tell they were going all out with this last set of episodes. Seeing Order 66 in this way was tragic but pretty cool. Poor Rex tried to fight it for a second.

Sets of episodes that I liked:
Obi-Wan disguised as a bounty hunter. Made me realize Star Wars really could use a bounty hunter show...
The ones about the living manifestations of the force. Anakin seeing his own future and realizing what he'd become was great.
The set where Asohka and some Padawans are hunted in a sick game.
The ones about the evil Jedi that hates the Clones. Seeing them decide to hunt him down and kill him was nuts.

The show is pretty dope. I guess I'll check out Rebels eventually but it looks more kiddy tbh

Clone Wars really did have some great storylines. Siege of Mandalore is a top-tier Star Wars story IMO

Rebels is definitely worth watching as there are continued story lines from clone wars. Also Bad Batch is decent so far (on Ep 7)

Rebels does kinda feel kiddy at first. I thought clone wars did too. It gets to point of being pretty cool though.

They could have left out the Space Puerto Rican episodes, they even brought them back in The Bad Batch

To me, The Clone Wars are best remembered as another excellent experimental cartoon (which I had the pleasure of effectively seeing the death of cartoon culture during this time in favor of..... you guess it.... CGI)

When it comes to veiled subconscious nihilism, I simply prefer to turn my humans into monsters as opposed to depicting them as mundane, ironic freaks of nature.

I think the best things TCW did were Ahsoka and the clones. I'm less interested in any movie character. Maul and Ventress were okay I guess but I really feel Maul was misused. To not spoil anything, there's one character who I don't feel was used very well in TCW that gets used MUCH better in Rebels.

The Rebels main character is a pre-teen so I get that assessment, but he's around a bunch of adults so the whole story is about him growing to become one of them.

The very last episode of the show was one the most atmospheric things I've seen. It's probably one of the best pieces of star wars media in existence.
Ive tried it already, honestly. Its not bad at all.

Actually, its pretty badass. So is rebels.

..... in like an Ewoks & Droids kind of way.

Space Puerto Rican? Are you talking about Hondo lol

I'm not sure exactly what accent Jim Cummings is going for with that guy. It's all over the place

I think the worst thing about the Martez sisters was (CW Season 7) I feel they wanted to portray the younger one as neurodivergent which led to the eventual conflict, but they missed the mark and she just comes across as making horrible spur of the moment decisions.

They brought them back in Bad Batch but their role in the episode was largely inconsequential. (BB Season 1) Classic "working against at the start, working together at the end".

I see what you mean, but if they did another traditional animated star wars cartoon do you think they would've been allowed to let the stakes get as high? As in well established characters could be killed off at time? I mean if obi-wan didn't already have plot armor from the beginning savage and maul would've killed his ass.

Yes absolutely. I don't think the medium had any bearing on the stakes. DCAU was killing characters, for example.

I think Rebels is easily better. I don't understand the complaints of it being "kiddy" at all. I suppose it is a bit more light hearted in theory, but I think the stakes are often higher and things are generally taken more seriously. The vast majority of Clone Wars really felt like disposable episodes for Cartoon Network afternoons, whereas I think Rebels has a lot more that's important to character and plot developments.

Yes.

The Mandalorian is that and both Rebels & Clone Wars venture further into that territory as time goes on.

I share this opinion. For one it's a completely told story and not an anthology. For another, all main characters are new to the point where no one's survival is assured, so it's not like they're trotting out characters who die in RotS or live through RotS and pretend there are stakes there. Also no Jar Jar. I still can't believe Season 6 of CW had a pair of Jar Jar episodes.

And then beyond that there's all the things they do go for in the story which I don't really want to go into detail that applies throughout the series rather than just in the mini-arcs.

Maul is so cool tho

I started watching Rebels. It's better than I thought it would be tbh. I wish the lightsabers weren't so thin
