Meiji restoration fails and the Tokugawa Shogunate continues as the government in Japan. Not enough fiction explores this. Would be a really interesting scenario since the Shogunate also planned to modernize and westernize.

Washington did alot of things that people thought were monarchical but that was partly because there was no precedent on how things should be done. But one of the factors that people did consider when electing him was that he had no children of his own. He raised nieces, nephews, and grandchildren, but none of his own. So if he was to go rogue and try to grab power, there would be no one to pass it on to.

Adams on the other hand wanted people to call him "your highness" and he got shit on for that.

But for how popular Washington was, if he played his cards right he absolutely could have become king. He didn't even want to run for a second term cuz he was tired of all the bullshit and part of him wanted a simple life just working on his farm. Dude was like, fine fuck it, I'll do another term, and got elected unanimously...despite the fact that the press was overwhelmingly negative against him - controlled by Jefferson and Madison.

But because there were so many powerful figures who were all relatively on the same page as far as government structure, who were deeply passionate about that, I doubt washington's "reign" could have gone on too long. I think he died approximately a decade after he first took office. And he wanted minimal involvement in foreign affairs. I honestly doubt he would've done anything different as King. Its really not as "intriguing" as you may think. He still relied on his cabinet heavily. He was not known to be a quick and decisive person. He was known to be someone who would contemplate things for a while. That was actually his main critique as a general in the war.

German revolution succeeds would be interesting.

Also I'd like to see a world where we went straight from radio to internet and skipped programmed TV altogether.

Germany winning WW2 has been done about 50 million times. But i still think it would be one of the most interesting.

Im thinking something like, the US still defeated Japan (Germany totally bails on any kind of alliance to focus all their efforts on winning in europe) and maybe some kind of in fighting in Russia causes them to abandon any kind of invasion in Germany, and Germany doesnt risk it for the biscuit and leaves them alone.

Germany is somehow able to win and push all the allies out, and takes control of a good chunk of europe. They make a deal with England to end the war and leave them alone as well. Everyone just sits back like "welp".

All this would probably lead to another war in the 60s, because they would more than likely try to overstep and set things off again.

Rome still around would have the most impact. Washington as King would be really interesting, not just because of how it affects America but because other new world countries might also want to have their own monarchies after they rebel.
