After seeing what making the internet accessible and affordable to everyone has resulted in, absolutely not.

Its becoming a necessity in the modern world so its something everybody should have access to but like with running water or electricity you have to pay for it.

On the flipside, the world has become a goddamn mess due to too many people having unrestricted access to the internet; primarily social and video sharing platforms. Our devices should be ISPs. We should all be our own ISPs. So, a billion private entities basically.
There are cities in 3rd world countries that have city-wide private lan networks run by local citizens. Or there's an app in China, that uses a different kind of signal the cell phone gives out (like, the app uses the cell phones radio signal instead of internet data), and creates a private chat network among users of that app nearby each other; essentially a smart workaround to methods like text that wouldn't be private. That's the model, but with better technology. Things like that are the future. Not public by the government in the way you might imagine, but the end result is the same, the internet becomes a lot better and more accessible. ... Copied to Clipboard!
