I took an entire module on evolution for my university.

I don't think you do know how evolution works. Evolutionists like to posit every stupid beneficial thing we see and observe around is 'cos 'natural selection!!'. But thus, my question.

Also, it's a legitimate one. This is known as the lek paradox. It is the paradox that if , if females only bred with the most attractive males, then all males should be equally attractive and sexual selection could not take place in the first place.

Nah, evolution does not always produce beneficial outcomes, though. The process for both eating and breathing, interfering with each other, could be seen this way.

Besides, humans have been working hard lately to circumvent natural selection. Think about the safeguards we have in place to protect people from dying, when historically they would have died and not procreated.

Beauty is, in fact, skin deep basically.

A personality can be beautiful (intuition mixed with a romantic & adventurous, social personality & genuinely good manners for example) and of course overall health does effect looks (naturally, a healthy & strong person will be perceived as attractive). But neither of those things matter a lick if the person is wearing rags, with dirty skin, bad haircut, unsightly behaviors & expressions, & so on. Its all in the look.

The entertainment industry shows us time & time again actually, how an average-looking person can be made up (hehe) to look just like a bombshell, rockstar, hardbody, first class ultra-attractive individual rather easily using angles, a little instruction, nice clothes, & other techniques to achieve the desired effect.

[insert your favorite pop star here] is almost certainly nowhere near as hot as they look in the pictures & on camera. ~(especially in the pictures XD)

Memory can effect how beautiful or handsome or interesting or put together one is seen as well.

maybe there is someone you like (**wink, wink**)..... but! once you get beneath the sheets, or start talking to them, you find beneath the surface, and they no longer seem attractive to you. Or, maybe a persons reputation has effected whether you see them as good or bad. ^.^

But yea

Its actually really complicated. Thats why school goes on for so long to get doctorates and even then, with many jobs they require periodic re-testing to assess maintenance of ability. Yearly reviews. That sort of thing.

Over time, some of us have a natural tendency to improve and maybe we need to be better about nurturing it. Other times, maybe the person does not have great natural inclinations...... but, (Theres that but again!) their efforts increase their ability so far that they surpass the intelligence of people who are *technically*..... smarter than them. For example....

High IQ is no competitor of prior knowledge. If you know the answers, you will beat the other guy. (Or gal)
