When whiskey ages it pulls flavor compounds out of the wood the char on the barrels isnt enough to give it a Smokey flavor. Shitty whiskey tastes like alcohol only with a little flavor. It is usually smooth. Most Canadian whiskeys are shit, theyre just smooth. Good whiskey you are always going to get vanilla, oak and spice flavors. All the wines are super small. I think once Yellowtail came around the race to the bottom crushed them. DM is like their prized little brand they hope to grow. Haven't checked it lately but I'd assume they're throwing a lot of money for tastings, etc at it. And then their big bet for the year is the DM muertos subbrand.
