as if eating and enjoying food is meant to be a competition

spicy food is nice and adds another dynamic to a meal, why the fuck people have to be weird about it though?

To be fair, you build up a tolerance to capsaicin just like you would any other chemical, so someone who eats spicy food regularly literally won't be able to taste it.

Well usually I say it because people say it will be spicy and then you eat it and it's "spicy" and said person thinks salt and pepper is "muy caliente picoso" probably.

regular black pepper isn't that spicy, but I've definitely used too much in my cooking before and ruined a dish. it's a very specific kind of mouth spice; and in my experience too much of it without nose spice is pretty unpleasant

I can barely lift myself out of bed. Spicy is spicy. Some people just can't handle more than those hot sauce packets from a fast food place. And that's fine, there's no shame in that. But don't tell me it's spicy when it isn't spicy, that's like saying you'll give me black coffee but I drink that shit and you put cream and sugar in.

I remember in high school and college we used to compete to see who could eat the spiciest thing.

But we also would see who would bitch out first if we just stood there and punched each other in the arm.

Its just stupid stuff to compete over.

Sometimes when something is too spicy for me I like to keep eating it just to see if I still feel pain. Pain is a sign of being alive, methinks.

There's a certain kind of guy and we've all met him and I suspect CE has a high concentration of that guy but personality traits include

• graduated with honours from google university
• hates fashion but sports some dorky fashion quirk like a chimney sweep hat or waistcoat or broach
• likes to tell you your taste in beer is terrible, gets really into the conversation of beer choices
• is "the king of the bbq" because he can take an expensive cut of steak and cook it normally
• is really all about the spiciest food he can find and takes great pains to tell you it's not that spicy when he eats anything labelled as hot food
• also likes to tell you it's not cold and goes out in december in a t shirt showcasing that he is immune to the elements
• randomly brings up topics of conversation no one actually wants to talk about so he can give you his spicy hot take, like cultural appropriation or manspreading

I could go on. That guy, the least fun guy who thinks he is the most fun guy
