This always happens. However, I don't think that's the case here. I don't think renters are the "ruling class". They, imo, have every right to be upset that they're about to lose everything because they can't ask for they money they're owed. Of course there is the ones that have like 12 places and jack up the prices just so they can make more money, but not all of them are like that.

People need food, right? How about me force food places to give away free food so they all lose a bunch of money? Here in Portland, and in most school districts, everyone 18 and younger can eat breakfast and lunch for free, and if you're just a walk up, you get a dinner when you pick up your lunch. School kids get an afternoon snack that they can grab on their way home

IMO, this is only the case if nobody wants to rent from you. That's the risk you're taking. Having people use what you're providing and not paying for it is different.

Kind of like those people that buy up concert tickets and sell them for a higher value. If they can't sell the tickets, that's on them to take a loss. If the concert is cancelled if would be a bunch of bull shit to not refund them the money they spend on all the tickets, even though they're kind of scummy people.

I feel more sympathy for her than the guy with 24 properties. My bank tried to charge me for three months after my "assistance" period was over. I ended up having to modify my loan. Homeowners definitely need some more help.

Regardless of the validity of this lady's woes, the whole situation is pretty fucked up. The government shouldn't have power to keep you from utilizing your property if they're not going to be the ones responsible for reimbursing you. It's like them saying your employer doesn't have to pay you while they're facing hardships and you're also not allowed to quit.

These are the same people the WSJ tried to call poor single mothers making almost $100k in active income and $50k in passive income every year. If landlords make a bad investment, then maybe they should cut back on their avocado toast budget.
