For maybe 6-12 months to save up some money to put a down payment on a house.

The plan was always to rent a small house, save up money, then buy a house. But I realized, my in-laws live in a 6 bedroom house and occupy 1 room themselves. It would add 15 min to my commute each way but it would save us thousands of dollars a month. Its a nice luxury to have, and lucky to have awesome in-laws, and we could buy a house much sooner. Keep all our shit in a storage til then. They're also the type that they would refuse money for rent or bills (I've already brought it up and offered, they strongly declined). My only expense would be groceries.

lol. I know its not ideal but my in-laws are actually amazingly nice people. This just kills so many birds with 1 stone. No spending money on rent and bills. Free babysitters. Because of that, wife can actually work so we could save even more money (She dying to go back to work, she's tired of being at home). I also don't have to worry about flying my wife and I back and fourth to scope out houses to rent/buy while we're long distance. This sorta settles our living situation near where we want to settle long term, so we can easily drive around the city scouting out neighborhoods and houses.

And tbh the parents in-laws are amazing. Its the other family that can sometimes get annoying. But my solution to that is that I'll just be working alot.

Thats awesome. Last time we lived with my in-laws my wife's mother accused me of attempting to rape her, assaulting her and molesting my children. Safe to say I do not like her at all.

Neat. My in-laws are nice people but they still drive me crazy if I have to hang with them for more than a couple hours lol. Good luck

It's not unheard of.

A lot of homes are mutli-generational maybe multi-family sometimes too.

House prices in America are absurd, the country has everything backwards
