If a majority vote in favor of removing him then whichever of the 45+ candidates running that gets the most votes wins. They dont even need a majority of votes, simply who gets the most among them. Its a special off-year election against an incumbent, and theres a lot of angry Republicans/conservatives that are motivated to remove him. The leading candidate to replace him is a nutty conservatives radio talk show host and pretty much all his political opinions and things hes said are trash. https://www.sfchronicle.com/politics/article/How-close-is-the-California-recall-Here-s-what-16411482.php I remember liberals laughing at the push to get enough signatures for a recall election, saying no chance it would actually happen.
