Sometimes. Slay the Spire is one of my favorite games. I'm more into the turn based ones than the action ones.

I don't have a problem with Roguelikes

Roguelites are terrible and they usually contradict the entire point of what they were copying

I like roguelites better because you can at least progress if you're dogshit at it. I'm not a big fan of the pound away at it until you're good enough playstyle. The idea of starting at zero each time has an appeal, but I don't think I've played one that I'd consider to have a good balance between fun and challenge.

depends on the controls, i hate 'aiming' with the mouse, i like attacking where my character is facing

I've only played Hades (I think that's a roguelite, though?) and I love it. I didn't really expect to like it as much as I do, but figured I would at least try it since it got so much praise. Glad I did.

Meh, not my favorite genre. Played hades and realize it's a well made but I just don't love it as much as some people seem to. While there's a ton of variability I find the concept if playing through the same few levels, even with some variables thrown in, to be kind of repetitive

I think for me it's about seeing how far I've progressed. My first run I didn't even reach the first boss, and now most runs I can make it to the final boss without using more than one resurrection, sometimes none.

It also took me 32 attempts to beat it once, and now I've beaten it 10 more times in about 30 more attempts, including at least one with each weapon.

I haven't played too many. There have been some executions I really like (Invisible Inc, Fights in Tight Spaces), and some where I don't think it's worked (Othercide).

But in general I do like games that encourage you to take a variety of approaches or builds, and a structure like that is a good way to produce that outcome.

Slay the Spire, Monster Train & Enter the Gungeon are some of my favourite games. Spelunky is great too. And Hades is supposed to be amazing, Ive bought it but not ready to get absorbed into another game for months.

Binding of Isaac is pretty good but ruined more by the dev decisions rather than the Roguelike aspects.

On the whole the ones Ive played are all bangers.

roguelikes are the supertrend of gaming today. Sorta like strategy games were in the 90s, shoontan gaemz were in the 00's, and theatrical ""action""/""adventure"" games were in the early 10's.

One of my favorite genres, I put a ton of hours into Binding of Issac. Easily over 500. Been into Hades here lately a lot too, and as mentioned, Slay the Spire I keep going back to since it's first release.
