In 1, Medusa is just randomly in Athens and in 3 the boss of the labyrinth is a scorpion with crystal legs.

Noticed that as well. And in 4 there is a new guy boss, and a new way to solve it. I haven't played the whole game, but I don't find it really hard. I have a few minor complaints of my own. Some of the cutscenes are a bit jerky. The battle system is pretty good, but you spend a lot of time doing it in a specific order, instead of just "use this potion and that move". The only move that is really essential is the move you use for your second fireball. Other than that the moves are pretty much just a button press in the right order.

It has some flaws though, like only ever 3 characters being able to attack. The first boss is kinda hard, but that doesn't last too long. After that you unlock a level that requires 2 moves instead of 1, and you have to start from scratch again. I haven't played very much so some things I said might be wrong. That is why I say some flaws exist.
