Bought it on switch when it went on sale. Not a huge fan of the genre, but it's fun.

Platforming with drifty joycons however...that is not fun.

Theres a lot of cool things it tries to do, the light/dark shifting system is cooler than shinies in Pokemon in a lot of ways.

I dunno. It's not the best game I've played, but it's better than I expected and feels like it's probably worth more than $20(the non-sale price) just because of how much shit is crammed in here.

I get the feeling that a lot of the depth might not hold up for a second playthrough, but I'm hoping I'm wrong. Some builds seem blatantly better than others and it's seems very easy to wind up with an optimum build and steamroll to endgame with it.

Good game though. 8.5/10 easy. Maybe a 9 if the endgame doesn't suck.

I played it non stop about 7 months ago. It is what pokemon dreams it could be. Team builds are very important in the late game. Also there is a ton of secret stuff and hidden monsters to get. Pretty damn good for an indie.

One of the last story battles as well as many of the optional or postgame battles are hard as fuck. Let alone getting 5* ranks on the champions for their eggs. I 100%d it once but gave up on my second playthrough cuz of one annoying fight in particular. One of these days I gotta pick it up again and finish it since casual mode is in the game now.

I looked into it once and what turned me off was I kept reading that youre occasionally forced to play a certain way or use certain monsters because of the difficulty.

There are multiple solutions to every fight, but there are fights where a great many teams that are very carefully built and are otherwise very effective are just never gonna win. At some point, you're probably gonna end up just looking up a strategy cuz there are too many logical options that won't do the job.
