It's sad that the website is dying. I think we just need to find a more sustainable place to host the site and provide updates. Perhaps you guys will help?

They will continue to provide updates, although they will likely be less frequent. I am currently trying to figure out what we can realistically do, or at least provide on a regular basis, in terms of updates and content. There are some things that could be done, like releasing monthly dev logs, and that's the plan for the next year or so.

You'd need to hire another person or two, and I'd have to be the one in charge of doing the day-to-day running and stuff, but it's not like I really do have much time to work on it. I'd love to hire someone on a long-term basis, but I can't afford to hire a developer/administrator for a long period of time. That's just how it is, you know?

Yeah, it's kind of sad. It's pretty easy to see why though. Some of the rules are kind of archaic, and the format is still reminiscent of classic forums. For me though, that's part of the appeal, and why I've been coming here since 2007 and will probably stick around until the site shuts down

It was fun back then. The boards were moving so fast it felt like a chat room.

Even if you could market the idea of a message board to the younger generation I feel like without a (robust) app that sends notifications and stuff, this kind of communication format will never appeal much to anyone besides Gen Xers and Millennials (and older Boomers)

I like GameFaqs for the more oldschool internet vibe I get since message boards are a pretty niche and dead thing these days, but there could really be some good improvements to the site. Probably too late to ever get back to those mid to late 2000s numbers though. This kinda site will probably never appeal to zoomers and later at all.
