10 hour shifts of constant moving at fast pace + asshole manager was breathing down my neck threatening to fire me on day two if my rate isnt up to par ... yeah realized I dont wanna work this shitty job when I can get better and walked out

Made like $480. Not bad for like what 20 hours of work. Pay is good for how easy the job is to get, but the working conditions and stress are brutal. Like i've been in military boot camp and amazon is more stressful and physically taxxing IMO.

Basically, what you get taught by the training in Walmart is not what they want you to *actually* do, because it takes too much time. Instead of actually putting stuff around correctly they want you to stuff shit into the back of the aisles so you can get things "done" faster. 'Coaching' is when someone with seniority follows you around and scrutinizes your every move because you've been deemed an inefficient working bee.

If you can't do your job in a warehouse, you can't do it anywhere. And if you can't do your job on a team, you can't do it in an office or at home or anywhere else. No one can do it alone. If you can't find the right partner, you'll have to accept being alone, which is really a very lonely experience.

"As a person who tries to do a team and individual job well, I find myself alone too much." You are a liability. It will get back to your boss.

I just went to the bathroom. The last time I did that was a couple of weeks ago. No one told me I couldn't. I went in. People had to push past me in the aisle, but no one said anything to me. I can't understand why no one said anything to me, but the point is, I went in.

I'm a little pissed off. And I'm going to write about it.

At 6:45 PM I called the manager on the night shift and left a message on her voicemail. My voicemail said that I wanted her to call me at home and let me know that I had violated the store policy, that the other employees have a right to see what was on the shelf, that they asked me not to go back to that aisle, and that they asked me not to take any more merchandise.

I also worked Amazon for like two weeks, I quit after I had an injury on the job and they acted like it was no big deal. It was during the holiday season and they wanted me to rush shit so I was pushing a cart and SLAM went the cart--and my face--into a pole

I quit that same day lmao

What's your problem? You can't argue with my points, so you call me a bot? I'm pretty sure that you're crazy. What you're trying to say is, the original poster said that you couldn't make your point. The fact that you replied was because you had to.

The same thing can be said of me. I can't argue with your points, so I argue with mine. It's called a discussion, my friend. A logical argument. In other words, a debate. Two opinions being argued.

And here you are, accusing me of being a 'gimmick' and a 'transformer'.

Well, you obviously don't have the intellectual capacity to refute TC's points. And when have you ever defended ANYTHING Amazon has done? Your argument is 'Amazon is doing a GREAT job' because of the state of the economy. And by the way, when you make a point against the original poster, it's not an argument, it's just a rant.

I feel like Amazon warehouses will really struggle to get staff in places that are getting 15 dollar min wage. Because for the longest time that was how they suckered people into working for them, starting at 15 bucks an hour.

Eh other than breathing down your neck, it sounds like pretty standard warehouse labor. And the pay and benefits tend to be worth it. My mother worked on the factory floor for a decade, good pay, health, dental, etc, grueling hours standing and lifting heavy stuff. Upgraded to a desk job at the factory, so much better for her. Last I checked with her, the line to get employed is long.

$15/hr is not enough to even survive on, unless you want like five roommates (plus their guests) around your house 24/7. Weve got to either cut rent/housing prices in half or we need to start paying $30/hr as minimum wage. Its one or the other.

All they have to do is treat people like humans instead of machines. The turnover rate is intentional. They don't want an entrenched work force because entrenched work forces are more prone to unionization.

Warehouse work should be treated as skilled labor tbh. I worked UPS for many years and many people are just naturally faster without it being taxing on their body. Like even some older folks just had better technique and stamina unloading a truck than younger folks.

Not everyone struggles so much to do it and they should be compensated better for the work. With that, some should be locked out of it simply because they aren't naturally built for it.

Yeah. I'm currently working at Walmart and using them to pay for my college.

I walk in upwards of 15 miles a day and have had to severely increase my caloric intake because I lost 20lbs in about 6 months. I only weighed 150lbs when I started. Having a lot of hips and lower back pain, but am managing it with yoga and the occasional massage.

It's cool they pay for my college though, and my managers are nice. I wouldn't be able to handle what you were dealing with at Amazon.

As someone who picks grocery orders, this is unbelievably irritating. I don't blame the people doing it though, the store as a whole is so grossly understaffed.

Body mechanics means a lot. My body is so horribly stiff from years of not stretching and poor posture that actually lifting something properly is difficult. So it becomes a cyclical issue where because your body sucks, you do things improperly and make your body suck more.

Gradually getting better with yoga, but damn it's taking a while to get there.

I lasted maybe two weeks at an Amazon warehouse.

It was awful. On top of the things you always hear about their warehouses, this was a newly built one and somehow they hadn't built enough parking. Took anywhere from 1-3 hours just to find a parking space and to leave when your shift was over. They attempted to "remedy" this by renting land for parking like 15 minutes away and having shuttles to take people to the warehouse every thirty minutes. Still way too long so I bailed.
