I come in peace. I'm just trying to understand what information is out there on social media that people are reading. Like what have you read about it that gives you doubts. What side effects are you worried about?

it's the J&J (6x the rate if on birth control for woman).

not many prefer that vaccine. the other 2 don't suffer that issue (pfizer or moderna has another issue entirely in teens).

The risk of blood clots is approximately 1-12 per million for the johnson & johnson vaccine (depending on the age, gender, and risk factors) I'm assuming your mom is older, in which case her risk is actually less. The highest risk group is 30-40 year old females at 12 per million. If she's not a female between 30 and 50, her risk is less than 4 per million. AstraZeneca also had an approximately similar risk of blood clots but I dont have exact numbers for you.

Moderna and Pfizer were not linked to blood clots at all.

I've also said this many times, the pure mortality numbers are misleading in how severe the disease is. We're just getting better at treating it and keeping people alive. Theres approximately a 1 in 10 chance of getting covid and 1 in 50 chance of dying if you get it, thus the 1 in 500 chance of dying if unvaccinated. But what this doesn't account for is the significant number of people who get on ventilators and leave the ICU with tracheostomies, feeding tubes, and bed bound. Older patients will most likely die within a year of complications from being bed bound and on a tracheostomy like pressure sores and pneumonia. Younger patients will go through months and years of rehab and never return back to normal. They will always have some degree of shortness of breath and chest pains which limit their daily function. They are essentially handicap even a year out. I'm reading numbers that approximately 15-60% of ICU patients die, most being around the 20-40% range. If we extrapolate using those numbers, then if you have COVID, while the chance of dying is 1 in 50, your chance of experiencing those long term complications is probably around 1 in 15-20 or so.

As a young health person, its not necessarily death I would fear, it would be having these complications and never returning to my baseline level of function. I love running, working out, playing sports, I wouldn't be able to do those things to nearly the same level. I'd hate to get SOB just playing with my toddler. Thats what scares me and thats a much higher probablity than dying.

Meanwhile the chances of any significant side effect of the vaccine is equivalent to the odds of getting struck by lightening or getting into an airplane crash.

Anyone else have any concerns? Again I'm happy to address these with actual numbers and facts. I won't attack anyone, this is a safe zone.

I'm provaccine

My neighbor is an avid biker. He got the vaccine in may(not sure which one) and claims his O2 level has been lower since then (around 93-95)

I don't know if the vaccine could cause this. He could have also had covid at some point and not known it

I intentionally don't research it cause I don't want any ammunition to argue anyone with it.

I did a quick literature search, theres been no reports of vaccine related sats dropping or any lung disease, by any of the vaccines. It just doesn't make any sense either for someones O2 saturation to drop in an isolated fashion without any other symptoms. If he's not symptomatic then its nothing to worry about and theres absolutely no reason to monitor his saturation. If he's having shortness of breath then he should see a doctor.

Alright, i hadn't heard that from anyone else either, so i figured either something else was going on or he just hadn't really been noting his o2 levels prior and is just really conscious of it now for some reason

Its alot more complex than just "I got the vaccine now my oxygen is 93-95%". For someone who truly has a low oxygen saturation or shortness of breath, its at least a 20-30 min doctors office initial visit + several tests and possibly repeated visits, and possibly a specialist, to really get to the bottom of it. Not to mention the questions you posed about his measurements are all valid as well and need to be addressed.
