It's amazing to me that Rare's composer used the theme song of the original game, as the basis for DKCs theme: https://youtu.be/KmmNYTg-wSA And then DKCs intro, with old Cranky, the original DK still bitter from his defeat, hanging out on the construction beams. How the composer brought the original theme forward into their new style. Both pays homage and is an evolution. It doesn't discard Nintendo's vision at all, instead they transition from it.
