There's a lot of corners cut to make a laptop with nearly RTX 3070 desktop performance for $1500, but it's a hell of a deal.

The 300 Hz screen is pretty dim (300 nits) and apparently the RAM is high density and should be swapped out, but the CPU is tops and the GPU is bested only by the high-voltage versions of the RTX 3080 laptop GPU.

I was thinking about getting this version and selling my G533QR-DS76Q. It's actually $500 cheaper too. I do prefer the higher resolution screen on my laptop though.

Yeah there was supposed to be a 1440p version of this laptop but I think it's delayed. The 6800m really should've been paired with a higher-res screen.

On the other hand, it's so overkill at 1080p that you'll probably get well above 60fps in every title for years.

The only GPU in the mobile space that beats this is the 165 W RTX 3080 in the Alienware X17, MSI Raider and Lenovo 7i. And those are all $3,000+ laptops (well, you can often get the Alienware for $2,400ish if you go 1080p and less RAM, but you really shouldn't get a 3080 with a 1080p screen)

It's tempting, but I don't want 1080p at any refresh rate.

What I find irritating is that a lot of these laptops are either 1080p with super-high refresh (240+) or 4K with 60 Hz (X17 has a 120Hz model which is cool)

1440p 120 Hz is the obvious sweet spot for laptops. The 3080 and 6800m would easily hit that resolution comfortably well above 60fps in modern titles. Yet 1440p panels are pretty rare.

You could probably argue that DLSS makes 4K panels feasible, which is true in that it usually upscales from 1440p, but I'm not sure anyone can even tell the difference in resolution between 1440p and 4K on 15 inch and 17 inch laptops.
