I'd say more authentic. It's disrespectful to mispronounce a name if you know how it's meant to be said.

If you look at Street Fighter, I think "Rye-yoo" sounds way cooler than "Ree-yoo." I'd still stand by saying his name correctly. Ninja Gaiden sounds like a ninja-themed gay bar no mater how you say it. It's either the gay den or the guy den. (P.S. Ninja gay bars should totally be a thing.)

If it's a name that actually exists, then no. If it just incidentally happens to be spelled the same way, that's one thing. If they were going for a name native to a specific ethnic group and they pronounced it incorrectly, then they need to do the right thing.

Did they knowingly and intentionally choose a real name, but get the pronunciation wrong? If so, they need to correct it. If they made it up, they're free to pronounce it however they wish.

I never minded the name change considering it probably would be ong irl, but at the same time, that set off the fanbase immediately when they heard it so it wouldn't be a smart decision to follow that decision.

Also, as others said, this isn't irl Earth and people have the right to choose their child's pronunciation anyways.

Tell you what. You want to pronounce it that way you're more then welcome to animate your own show with that name and pronounce it the way you want. Then if Netfix decides to make an adaptation that's the way theyll do it.
