My current hobbies are rather stagnant

  1. I'm pretty much done with Warhammer - I'll paint my current kits and that's it. I still WANT Warhammer stuff, but with lack of travel and no more local stores the odds of me ever getting to play a game, let alone a tournament, is about 3%... I should just remove it from my mind
  2. Photography - love it, but since I don't really travel I'll tapped out all my subjects. But, I can always do stuff - so it's not bad, just stagnant
  3. Gaming - Still awesome, I'm rated the 9th best in the world (source: Astats), but more on point I'd like to do more HARD stuff where I might get money for playing - like switching to LoL (no one pays Dota players :V) or getting good at counter-strike... meh

So, other than that - here's some things I might be interested in

  • 3D Printing: The low quality filament printers are now of a good quality, with medium+ printers being really nice so I could continue my love of painting by printing my own models. I'd like to print off ModelViewer kits from World of Warcraft/FFXI or Dragon Quest Slimes! It's also not that expensive (compared to Warhammer or Photography), but there are risks... Resin printers require a lot of additional safety measures I'm simply not comfortable putting up with in my small apartment - I don't have space to have an entire CURING room for resin. Filament printers are good enough, and affordable too, but I'm worried they might put out too much heat (again, small apartment fire risk)
  • Rock Grooming: What is that? Well, it's like the evolution of the pet rock - you find a wild rock that's young and cute and you take them home, show them to your friends, and you polish them and paint them up and shape them into the kind of rock you want and then sell it online. ... ... WHAT!?
  • Get back in to Streaming/YouTube: I find this very uncomfortable since I don't like, y'know, socializing even with non-existent non-people... IE: I still feel creepy eyes on my videos that I don't speak/show face and have zero views.

Well, that's basically all I got for ideas

Rock Grooming

This actually is pretty fun if you enjoy walking around and filling your pockets with neat things, just be careful where you take your rocks from as it can sometimes be a serious offence to remove a rock from a site.

But if you manage to make it home with a pocket full of rocks, you can put them in a bucket with some dish soap and give them a clean with a tooth brush and then spread them out across your floor and admire them. I've got an old deep fryer basket that I keep my smaller ones in when I'm not actively looking at them.

Warhammer

I would suggest some bloodbowl if you know of a friend who would play with you. Maybe try some Age of Sigmar models if you are currently a 40k player.

3D printing sounds fun. If all you are planning to do is go to thingverse and print of what other people have, it gets pretty old pretty quickly. Unless you are designing your own things, you will get bored with it quickly.

I forgot to respond; I have a Bloodbowl box, and many Rum&Pirates boxes, and Rivet Wars boxes (don't have a Dark Souls box)... problem is there is and likely never will be someone to play with.

As for intstruments; I have a few guitars but I haven't played in a long time. I also have a flute I never touched yet. I've been slightly ignoring them since I've been paranoid about making too much noise - even though my amp does have a headphone port, the paranoia remains.

I wouldn't mind getting good at piano... it's one of the few instruments where you can play a composition by yourself whereas most other instruments require.. ... other people (or a sound box to play with)

I know that struggle.

Gotta follow the advice of The Who, pick up that guitar and play. I've had my current bass for about 8 years now but I never got an amp for it, just strum and pluck for the sheer practice of it. I have a clarinet around too, but that is loud and it's hard to find a quiet spot to sit and practice. I miss having a piano.

I wish I didn't have to work, I'd do so much stuff. Though I'd probably also waste a ton of it dicking around on the internet like I do now lol

I agree with this, I have a 3D printer and tend to like doing the design more than actually printing stuff. I can't come up with much I'd use it for though so I don't even do it enough. I don't think there's necessarily anything wrong with grabbing someone else's designs though. To me what's weird is if you have a practical application for it or not. Like printing out an Einstein head might be fun if you're a noob but I don't understand people who just download and print that kind of thing all the time, they don't even look that great in the end compared to buying an actual figure

Electric guitar through headphones shouldn't be audible in other apartments. An acoustic might but I don't even see why that matters unless you're doing it at odd hours

Ya, I';m trying to find ways to contribute to society from home - #D printing certainly seems like an option since I can sell/give away models to make people happy

Yaknow, I had that super-depressive day 5+ days ago where I was ultra-down;

Whenever I recover from such a day I'm, like, a normal human being right now - I feel normal, I'm completely asymptomatic.

This likely won't last, it happens every time I get such an omni-devastation day... but I was able to clean a lot of my apartment and even assemble several warhammer models.

I like feeling like a normal person... I hope this lasts longer than usual

It's weird how I made this topic only 3 weeks ago, just after recovering from a major depression... and then only a couple days ago got hit again

...

anyways; heavily leaning towards 3D printing but, like, not sure if a hobby is what I need
