Right now it only shows my normal WiFi connection without the 5GHz. I am terrible with this kind of stuff and am tired of slow buffering! I have a pretty updated Roku stick if that helps.

Is that definitely the issue? I thought sometimes Id see it connected to it and sometimes it wouldnt be. Wasnt sure if there was some trick to it.

Where is your router in relation to the Roku?

5G wifi connections are faster, but their range is much more limited and can be more easily affected by walls that wouldn't pose as much problem for standard WiFi.

If it's in the same room then I don't know what to tell you, but that would be my first guess.

I had a similar issue with my roborock- the device simply didn't support 5ghz. it kept accidentally connecting to it and fritzing out

My solution was to go into my router's settings and change the 5gz version to have a completely name, so I could explicitly define which one the roborock would connect to
