I spent over $3000 so far this year on federal, state, Social Security, and Medicare taxes, does that count?
$1800 on gasoline
$1650 on materials for remodeling the bathroom (doesn't include labor)
$1600 on groceries
$875 on cellphone service

The single most expensive object I think I've bought this year was a new stereo for my SUV, $480, but then there was the satellite radio adapter, antenna, wiring harness, custom bezel, backup camera, installation, etc, which pushed the total to almost $900.

Off hand, I'd say a couple of credit card bills totaling over $1K each.

If monthly bills don't count, I'd probably say fireworks (a few hundred dollars easily).
