Well, to be fair, you can never trust any numbers coming from Florida. Counting isn't the strong suit down there.

I can also tell you that all healthcare workers morale is down. Initially we were scared but also proud that we got to step up in this pandemic and help others. Now we're losing our patience, empathy, morale, and losing actual staff. Nurses and techs are quitting cuz now ppl don't feel like they get paid enough

They are running out of nurses and doctors as well. My aunt who used to live in Florida who is a nurse is getting a ton of job offers for her back in Florida right now.

I have some doubts on the Georgia numbers. I've been to three different hospitals in the past month in three different areas and none of them looked even remotely close to capacity.

Holy shit, just dawned on me that all of these people are paying customers (I'm Canadian). Hospitals are MAKING BANK on the backs of anti-vaxxers!
Also to be clear, I definitely feel for people who are vaxxed and still end up in hospital - and feel for people who need the hospital for a non-preventable reason who can't get proper care because the hospitals are jammed up

I remember hearing last year that they were struggling since they don't make much money from all of this. They make more money from elective procedures which people have been delaying. I don't claim to understand this stuff, though.

Kick out anyone with covid and have them perpetually at the back of the queue. They should only get treatment if theres not even a single person with a stubbed toe that wants to see a doctor

No they aren't. Hospitals make bank with high turnover and surgeries. There's low turnover with covid. The same patients sit around in the icu for weeks. That's a financial disaster for hospitals, not to mention getting killed by less surgeries and procedures.

There's no surprise. Most GOP leadership knew this would happen; they didn't care because their constituents didn't care. And really don't care still, aside from people with friends and family dying in covid tents.

"It is what it is" has never been more appropriate. Now I'll sit around as the governor doubles down on anti vaccine and anti mask policies.

Inpatient stays are like $1000 a day and it's probably a lot more for ICU. Obviously the most money comes from that $200,000 brain surgery where they send you home after a week but those are comparatively rare and I wouldn't discount there money to be made with long term stays.

The problem is people aren't paying the bills for the care they get.
