Seems like so these days. The seams holding the whole world is falling apart, on top of the looming climate crisis.

It certainly does feel like it, doesn't it? But then again, lots of people have thought that over the years. Without question, Western civilization seems to be in decline. Whether or not that decline is terminal or not remains to be seen. The climate crisis looks like it could eventually doom us all because humanity is collectively too stupid and tribal to work toward a common goal.

The UK will collapse in a few days if Brexit impacts Beer or Tea.

There will be roving gangs of middle class people tutting at everyone whilst the working classes divide into subsections of "Cahncull Estayts Innit" with barbed wire fences and burning Vauxhalls.
Which is pretty much how it is now tbh, but people will be thirstier and sober.

The earth will mostly be fine and it'll be business as usual. Humans however, are screwed, as the planet has existed without us as it's done before. Now if some big brain manages to fracture the planet in half or cause a thermal runaway somehow. Then yeah..

Yup. Humanity will NEVER work together, especially in the current Era with the media and disinformation and stuff the way it is. Climate change will cause refugees all over the place, places becoming unlivable, wars over water and other resources.

America itself will not survive another 50 years in its current form, too bloated, too corrupt, too tribal and divided. The rest of the world will be fucked in its own ways too.

No thatll come with climate change.

Correct.

No amount of hyperbole, fear-mongering or screaming "the sky is falling" here: this planet earth by 2030 is going to be a miserable place to live on for literally 98% of the population on it.

Why the fuck do you think all these rich ghouls- like Jeff Bezos- are flying ships into space? It's not for the betterment of mankind, they're doing it because they've seen the data, they've heard the science, and they know that even living in a bunker they bought in the midwest (which is also a thing rich people are doing, that isn't a conspiracy theory because it was reported on by multiple news sites a couple years ago) won't save them from climate catastrophe... but getting into space, off of this planet, might. Not will, might, with no guarantee.

Does all of that sound nihilistic? Well, yeah, but all civilizations fall and so too do dominant species. I guess if you're religious- I'm not- you can take solace in the idea of a place beyond this sinking ship. I take more solace in the idea that when my time comes for the apocalypse, I'll finally get some rest since I'm 34 and my body is already falling apart from working two jobs throughout my 20's because I was born poor, and have stayed poor.

Uh, more than those. The entire southwest of North America is fucked. Every single state and city(and Northern Mexico) that relies on the Colorado River for water will become unlivable very, very soon. Water restrictions are starting for it. I live in Phoenix, I already know I'm gonna have to bail on this place within a decade.

LA, San Diego, Phoenix, Las Vegas, Denver, San Francisco, etc.. Will all no longer be able to sustain their current larger populations within the next 10-20 years.

Legitimately, the new Hotspots of population in America will be the Mississippi River and great lakes. It just so happens the Mississippi River bisects the country too lol.

Not quite. We could cut off all human related carbon emissions right now, and even build more carbon recapture plants, and things are still going to get worse before they get better.

We do have a lot of ability to mitigate future disaster, though.

One problem at this point is the green technology we need to transition causes environmental damage to produce. It makes up for it in the long run, but climate change is rapidly becoming a short-term problem. So switching to renewables can make things worse before it makes things better.

The other problem is we don't have green solutions to every problem yet. There's no way people will be able to meat at current levels sustainably for example. Cultured meat is still a decade away from price parity and hasn't even proven it is scalable yet.

It may not feel like it, but we have done a lot. We saved the ozone later, and we'd be a lot worse off now if we had not. There is still way too much coal, but renewable energy is growing all the time. There's still too much beef, but alternatives have come a long way. IIRC we have curbed the 2100 warming projection from 4 degrees to 3 degrees. We definitely aren't doing enough, but we're doing something.

Anyway I'm not a scientist so I welcome any critiques.

At this rate, the only way to fight climate change is to put in mandatory veganism and make eating meat a crime of two to three years in prison. That is the only way to actually make a dent. Extreme situations require extreme rules.
