Current Events > I want Pokemon Legends Arceus, but man that game is ugly as sin.

I generally don't care about graphics, but man this trailer made the game look horrible.
The grass and ground texture is worse than Breath of the Wild, the trees pop in during the flying, Pokemon not actually standing on the ground, the textures on the NPCs looking super blurry, etc.

Love the idea, execution is incredibly lacking. World looks so empty and bland and Pokemon catching doesn't look very involved. They should really give it more time but they know it'll sell millions anyways so can't really blame them I guess.

I bet Nintendo would love to cut GameFreak out of the picture entirely, because any of their first party development teams could do such a better job and Nintendo surely knows it. Unfortunately, there's probably not much Nintendo can do about it with their limited ownership of the franchise.

Monolith likely has their plate full with BotW2 and their own projects (Xenoblade 3 is rumored to be revealed very soon).

Having played Shield I'm going to respectfully disagree. I think the colors pop more and there is more like in Shield.

While I see what you're saying and you're not wrong, I don't think the hardware is the limiting factor here. Look at Breath of the Wild, Xenoblade, Genshin Impact, and other big open world games.

They still haven't managed to surpass the Shadow Pokemon games' graphics from the damn Gamecube. And it basically has to be intentional at this point, since it looks worse than SS. They know full well they could package a dog turd and have it sell millions so long as they slap the Pokemon name on it.

Don't the Xenoblade games on Switch have really bad resolutions? I thought Genshin didn't run great on PS4.

But yeah I doubt this game has a proper AAA budget which is a shame.

But now? Lol. I honestly don't blame GF unlike most others for the sorry state of the fanchise, fans will buy the game in droves at full retail price regardless so why should they even care about quality?

Yeah it's really bad. They need newer devs that know how to develop for the hardware.

Honestly I've only played X on the Wii U, and that looked better than Legends imo.

Yeah, if this came out on the Wii U it'd be a system seller. But on the Switch it feels lackluster to what should be a whole new Pokemon series. I really hope these poor graphics don't hurt sales and make them not create a better sequel.

I did shit on Sword and Shield when they came out (and proceeded not to play them), but this doesn't look as bad as the wild area. It does look like there's some nice scenery and environments, even if GF is too stupid to use the hardware to its full potential. Curious to see more of the gameplay structure.

Also I've hated the designs for human characters in the series since Sun and Moon. At least the professor has like a different head shape and aesthetic this time around.
