I don't know, I always thought it was kind of...cute? Like, we fancy up all our language to distract ourselves from the inherent power imbalances in everyday life, and just up-and-up calling your boss "boss" is kind of, like, childishly blunt. Assuming you like the boss, lol. If you don't...yeah.

Also, while we are on workspace terms; when someone in fast food says "have a good one", are they talking about the food or saying have a good day.

Because I've been reflexively saying "you too". Yet I mostly only ever hear it from drive throughs and am beginning to think they mean the food?

I feel cool and masculine when a big buff guy calls me "boss" when I'm just a normal guy

People in my line of work tend to get pissy if you dont adress them by rank. Informal shortenings of it are fine though like sarge lu or L.T. and cap.

well yeah I call em mom and dad. but I don't do something weird like call them sir and maam like i've seen some people do with their parents lol

I just find calling someone "boss" weird. I've always called everyone at every job i've had by their name

Whats weird to me because of my job I accidently introduce myseld by last name some times. Everyone in my line of work goes by their last name.

I watched The Steve Harvey show A LOT as a kid and picked up boss man and boss lady off of him.

i have 6 employees.

one calls me bossman.
one calls me boss or my name
one calls me skip (he was a minor league baseball player)
one calls me sir or mr. (my last name)
the other 2 just call me my name. I've told everyone they are free to call me by my first name, just don't.
