Main two handed warrior elf custom char.

I went Fane two handed last time round.

I was min maxing pretty hard, went mostly physical damage. I'm gonna split damage and take it easy now that I'm familiar with all the areas and mechanics. Playing Tactician, same as before.

got burned out on my first playthrough of that game. maybe because i was playing with a friend but by the end i was just so torn down by the difficulty of it.

I imagine it's pretty fun to play with a friend, but I can see it becoming tedious unless you have very similar schedules and skill level.

How far along did you get? Act 1 to 2 is notoriously difficult, but you eventually get to the point you're steamrolling everything on the first turn.

Finished the game. We did a 50:50 magic/physical group which was ok, but not the strongest. Also one of the characters was probably more of a lone-wolf characters.

Act 3 was easy, but towards the end it got really difficult again.

Yeah there's a bit of a spike at Arx, especially if you end up doing quests in the 'wrong' order.

I think if I was playing solo I would have found it much easier to coordinate builds and attacks, but we kinda just picked builds we wanted.

If I was doing it again I would probably go an all physical team with a ranger, undead knight, assassin and bloodmage and just wreck things.

The one thing I think is kinda unfair is how small, arbitrary conversation choices can dramatically cause you to lose out on heaps of XP or quest rewards. Choice is fun but not when one choice gives you 160,000XP and the natural choice gives you 20,000.

Sebille ranger + Flesh Sacrifice + Elemental Arrowheads is a great synergy. I'm also picking Red Prince on my current playthrough for a fire elementalist build with Elemental Affinity

Physical damage is great because nothing in the game has resistance to it.

Yes, one of my dislikes is how the game handles exp. You're almost encouraged to kill every NPC you meet before you leave to the next act.

I've hit that game twice, both times petering out in Act 2. It just felt like the leveling was scaled in a way that you needed to do almost every quest and fight in every area, in the right order, to really be able to progress at the pace they wanted you to. Its definitely a cool game, but I just lose interest after awhile.

Do you read the fextralife builds? The eternal warrior build is the strongest thing I've seen in the game. Just impossible to kill.

You don't have to do everything if min maxing isn't your goal, but yeah you definitely should do it in the right order if you want to make reasonable progress.

Yeah that's my favourite build. Once you get to 60%+ unbuffed crit chance there's nothing the game can do about you.
