Still a commie state but the government ended up being OK in the end. They even drove out the dictator Pol Pot in Cambodia and relieved the genocide happening there. They've always been pretty up front, if they truly had aggressive intentions, I think they'd be honest about it. They want to keep the country and understand they have to compromise at least a little to do it. They've openly said they're OK with getting rid of their poppy fields and heroin production for more legal things.
