The second monitor is useless unless youre so important that needs 50 tabs/windows to do your work.

Having one screen dedicated to Photoshop and the other for everything else (especially reference images for drawing) is a godsend.

how are you able to work when youre focusing watching a video? Doesnt make sense. Youll have to keep moving your head back and forth between the monitors

Nah, it's a godsend for multitaskers working outside of the browser.

I can never willingly go back to a single screen setup.

Do you guys not reference documents while writing or doing a spreadsheet or whatever? Or do you simply flip back and forth 1,000 times?

I hooked up a second display to watch some videogame presentation while shitposting about it, and it works out way better than PiP or a small window in the corner.

One for spreadsheets or PDFs, other for the word doc or the web browswer

Not alt-tabbing constantly

Its better than moving my mouse back and fourth between multiple windows.

It's good for work because you need to refer to stuff and work in different applications. I have 3 screens at work, and it doesn't feel like it's enough sometimes. If you're just chilling at home, then you probably don't need it.

At home, I just him my PC up to my TV and that 1 screen is fine. At work, I have 2 screens and it helps so much. Like right now, I'm working on purchasing for the office. I need to get quotes from the vendors and then enter their information into our documents. So it helps to be able to see two vendor quotes on one screen and the form I'm filling out on the other.

And there are plenty of other things that require multiple files open at once. Two screens just makes it so much easier.

I can't ever go back to a single monitor. Just off the top of my head:

  1. I can grade my students' papers while having their previous drafts with my feedback available at all times
  2. Working on multiple spreadsheets at once when referencing specific data
  3. Looking up "how-to" videos for specific software applications that allows me to act on the steps while I'm watching them on the other screen
  4. Keep my Outlook email list always on display at work while doing other tasks so I don't miss an important time-sensitive email
  5. Alternatively, always having my calendar available on the second screen so I know when a meeting is coming up, which helps with time management of tasks
  6. Perfect when working on two desktop applications at the same time that integrate with each other

My wife works from home and uses 2 displays, sometimes 3. She has a laptop hooked up to a docking station. One for coding or spreadsheets, and one just to keep her email/Microsoft Teams messages in front of her at all times.

Hard disagree.

I have my PDF blueprints on one monitor and the second monitor I use for my takeoff software. In fact, no lie, I was the first person in this branch to use dual monitors and now everyone in all branches have them. I found out how useful a second one was at my job before this.

I've had dual screen setups for years, because the multitasking is a lot easier with two as opposed to just one. Even something as simple as gaming.

I've been running a dual-screen setup for quite a while. I generally find I only actually use the second screen about 15% of the time, but those times would be much, MUCH less convenient without it.
