Looks good man. What type of tv is that?
Is component the highest quality video input it has?

Comoodore 1702 monitor, early 80s. Highest it supports is s-video, but I was surprised cause it looks surprisingly crisp. Actually, this shot you see I am using normal component, but I had the s-video cable on the way in the mail, and it looks way better now that ive plugged that in. I was kind of shocked how crisp it is

Your TV should be ashamed for trying to rewrite history. Buy an American TV next time.

I've been into CRT tvs all year, and for a second a month or two ago, I saw all the topics and thought everyone on CE was into them as well. I was dissapointed to find that was not the case

I have actually wondered if this might be possible, but I;m unsure with how old it is. I know you get into the 90s and 2000s, some consumer sets do have unused RGB capability, but I just dont have the technical expertise to know on this one or others

Wait I accidentally said component originally not composite(Y/R/W). Pic looks like you're using composite. Some consoles handle composite really well like the 360. Genesis doesn't look good on composite but good lord does it look incredible with component.

Just wait until you fall down the rabbit hole of opening up the tv and tinkering with it's rings and stuff for a better picture.

Nice. That's a similar story with my 32' Toshiba. Elderly couple had it in their living room but they never watched tv in there. They always used their den for watching tv.

^I love that channel. I want to open it, as i can tell the vertical alignment is a little off (a bit low). But, that kind of stuff scares me lol.

Actually that youtuber offers modding services for his patrons, so I was thinking of joining and asking him what is possible as far as RGB modding. He's an amazing source for CRT knowledge.

Yeah I meant composite, thats what I started with. But I am on s-video now and its beautiful, actually a big difference.

Now I just need a good s-video switch box so I can keep everything plugged in.

How did you get it? Was it hard to find a CRT? I feel like they must be rare now

Those big booty TVs are so heavy for their size.
Yeah, that's why personally I have no interest in going over 21 inches. This one is 13 inches so its not too bad, 30 40 pounds.

I had to order it online, and I did have a bad experience where I had ordered another and it broke in shipping, which can happen with CRTs. Luckily, most people selling them on evay are used to this, and they have insurance with shipping that pays for it, so it wasn't an issue to return it, and then I bought this one hoping for better luck, which I had and it was fine.

And yeah, they are getting expensive. I'd rather have a 20 21 inch PVM with rgb and all the good inputs, but that would run about $1000. I'll do it someday, but not now.

The fact that it has s-video makes me want to say it can do it, then again, a 40 year old set with svideo is probably as good as it gets unless you're a die hard lol

Ok cool you already know about his channel.

Here's the one I use. Works great, no interference. Make sure you get quality cables for everything that's what'll make all the difference.

My 32' is nearly 150 pounds. It was a pain to get into my upstairs office.

I got mine from Craigslist. There's still a lot of people getting rid of their "old" tvs. Most are either giving them away(like in my situation) or only charging up to $50 for them. Only issue is if you're being particular about the type of tv you want. I wanted a tv with component input so it took me 1-2 months of looking at Craigslist twice a day before finding mine. I got lucky and scored one with component, s-video, and composite.
