Meanwhile the CCP isn't taking any responsibility for unleashing the virus on the planet. Regardless if you believe the lab or the bats (and other animals) in the markets as the source, it could've been prevented.

Youve been to China? What was it like for you? Youve had an interesting life dude, Im jealous.

My parents adopted a 8 year old Chinese girl back in 2005. And me and my biological sister went with them on the trip. It was mostly about the adoption so we weren't always doing touristy stuff. A lot of time was spent in a hotel with my parents filling out forms and stuff like that

But we did do some sigh seeing. I think we went to 3 cities if I remember right

Landed in Beijing. My sister was living in a place called Nanchang or Nanchung. I think both are actual city names and I can never remember which is which

And for some reason I don't remember we went to a southern city called Guangzhou.

But anyway, what I think of when people like TC praise China, is seeing all the beggars on the streets. They have these underground crossings to bypass heavy traffic in streets for pedestrians. In one of those I saw this guy who had lost his face somehow.

Our guide said it might have been some kind of chemical accident. When I first saw him I thought he was wearing a Halloween mask. It's hard to describe what he looked like. But I gave him some money.

I dont remember how much But I remember later feeling like I should have gave more

I just remember him saying really weakly when I gave him the money "Xie xie....."
"Thanks"

I still think about that guy sometimes. I wonder what happened to him

Its interesting you bring that up, I have a friend who grew up in China that was shocked to see all the people wandering the streets when he first visited NYC. He wondered why they didnt go to their hometown for help.

Anyway, Chinas homelessness rate is not particularly high, its the same as the U.S.s in fact (18 per 100,000). Meanwhile 70% of Chinese millennials own a home (comparable to the 76% of 65+ yr old Americans who do) compared to <40% of millennials in the U.S.

Yeah, let's not ignore the fact that if China actually dealt with outbreaks competently, covid would never have become a pandemic in the first place. It's very much still anyone's guess whether it was natural or a lab accident (I think we can rule out a malicious intentional leak at this stage), but it's an absolute fact that China covering it up and spreading false information - and pressuing the WHO to do the same (remember how, despite China's government being the only source for the claim, the WHO insisted until late January 2020 that there was "no evidence of human to human transmission"?) - during the early days was a huge factor in covid becoming a pandemic.

This isn't the "gotcha" you think it is. Most people will die within 70 years of the age at which they become able to buy a home, even those who manage it quite young.

Bro the US is not a good example for homeless rates. In my country it's less than 1 per 100,000.

Also your data is based on per 10,000, not 100,000. China is 18 per 10,000, the US is 17.5, and Japan is .3. Not an impressive number at all, but also not surprising because both the US and China hate welfare.

Let's check in on their regional neighbors:
Vietnam 16.6, not good, only marginally better.

South Korea 2, much better.

Japan .3, among the lowest in the world.

Thailand 4, pretty impressive.

Hong Kong 2.4, no surprise since Hong Kong also enjoys Universal Healthcare unlike mainland China and also received a number of welfare benefits and has social security.

Look man, you haven't been to China so you only understand that the US is a place where the poor are actively disdained and left to fend for themselves, but this is China too. You literally have to pre-pay for healthcare. If you can't afford it you don't get it (the only major advantage over the US system is it is much cheaper) and things like unemployment or other kinds of basic welfare don't exist.

Tell me you have never been to China without telling me you have never been to China:
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Healthcare_in_China

Healthcare in China consists of both public and private medical institutions and insurance programs. About 95% of the population has at least basic health insurance coverage. Despite this, public health insurance generally only covers about half of medical costs, with the proportion lower for serious or chronic illnesses.
