If I told such a story unbidden to CE, they wouldn't see me as the guide writer who got better. They'd see me as the guy who had sex with goats.

What is the context of sharing such a story? And how long ago was this? I'd say that would be an important detail.

Depending on the context and timeframe, I'd find it weird it was done, but not care overall.

I'm not sitting here thinking every friend, family, acquaintance and colleagues I meet did nothing stupid in their past or never had an ignorant thought in their past. It's also absurd to even think everyone you know are angels.

To your second question, again depends on the context. Assuming it wasn't recent, assuming you are not still doing it, and assuming you are not defending your past (by arguing fucking goats is ok)......yes I would defend you. Anyone bashing someone over something that happened decades ago, that isn't happening today, showing a 180 mindset on their past.....need to get off their high horse.

Was this an incident not recent?
Was this 10+ years ago?
Has this person evolved and matured to know their thought process was wrong?

If the answer is yes to all 3, then I dont care about some supposed thought a person had decades ago that was ignorant. To add a cherry on top of this holier-than-thou cake, this ignorant thought this person had stayed just that, a thought. As this person did not actually commit to this thought. You're just acting holier-than-thou over a thought a person didn't have to admit to even having, and didn't even commit to.

So unless you have examples of that person STILL decades later arguing that ignorant thought was OK, or actively doing those ignorant thoughts, I would most definitely defend them.

I'm not digging up shit from 10+ years ago if the person I'm seeing today is actively showing they are a completely different person.
