Ive been known Ive had a problem with this.. I dont care to understand or find the nuance in what is my actual limit and I know my depression and feelings of being lethargic exaggerate by 10 when Im drinking

Ive known for awhile that I should get into therapy, but I just havent committed to that yet. I think for now what I should honestly do is quit the shit with alchohol since I feel sharp, aware, and well.. like myself honestly >_>

I guess Im just venting out but honestly liquor sucks.. and even one beer makes me feel not great. Its not until my second one that I start to get cheery until I literally just blackout

How much are you drinking?

I dont even know, I was drinking a liter of Thompson a day at my worst, but that was 3 years ago.. I checked myself to where I was just drinking half and then just nips of whatever + beer. But nowadays it doesnt matter what it is, Ill buy a case and some nips thinking I wont finish it and by the end of the night its gone. I feel like I just dont have any self control and literally feel like I cant stop at just 2 or 3. I dont feel anything drunk when Im drinking either, and thats even if I try and space out a large quantity. I just wake up in my car and my keys under my seat like I know I shouldnt be doing it >_>

Good on you for recognizing this. I started the process of moving away from alcohol in 2018 after 13 years of drinking and it was more or less the same conclusion you've arrived at, but I was too stubborn and stupid to respect it. From June 2018 to June 2019, I had a horrible time drinking because I didn't realize how deep in I was.

It's really worth it to quit though, especially if you're already having this kind of apprehension about drinking. Once a person gets to this point, it's really hard to switch back to casual drinking or moderating. The most likely course is that the problem gets worse. Quit while you're ahead, tbh. Don't wait for the consequences for you (or someone else) to start piling up.

Check out the stopdrinking subreddit if you want a support group that isn't about any one particular approach to quitting drinking. I also recommend a book called This Naked Mind by Annie Grace. That's the thing that really sealed in my mind that I was done with alcohol.

Good luck.
