I have been waiting some time for a resurgence in cyberpunk as a genre. I get games or comics or other stuff here and there, but CP77 seemed like it was going to be a watershed moment for the whole genre. Now I'm just sad. I don't want to wait for the 2030s

damaged? possibly. they've definitely tarnished the brand image of the Cyberpunk franchise itself

No. They're just one game. There's still plenty cyberpunk games out there.

I will say it's possibly more of a missed opportunity than anything. The same way the popularity of stranger things and critical role brought a huge surge in new interest in DnD and tabletop gaming, cyberpunk 2077 could have brought the same attention to the cyberpunk genre
