Along with the rate of autism going from roughly 1 in 5 thousand or so to being now about 1 in 36 people, (please don't mod me for that, not calling anyone an autist stat stating facts) the political and social climate of this upcoming generation has been complete garbage.

Everyone has some special "look at me" self diagnosed mental condition, along with a complete inability to stop scrolling through dopamine fueling apps

Just about 10 years ago old folks used to be the "cringe" ones. Kids were smoking, drinking, getting laid. Their personality was something that was judged in person so they had to actually ya know, develop a personality.

You hang out with someone younger now and they can't even handle a silent pause in conversation without looking at their phone or fidgeting. They have no original ideas to present and mostly just repeat things they've read or heard, and their attention span is completely for shit.

The online presence of these people is even worse. Just a constant sniffing of your own farts while generalizing and criticizing others. This generation and the celebrities that try to cater to them, are so cringe it almost feels like everyones doing some elaborate self aware bit. Lunacy has become normalcy, information has become subjective, and rational discussion often just devolves to slander.

I don't have anyone to blame for this and no solution. I'm fully aware I'm being an old man (30 years old is pretty old, I guess) shouting at clouds rn but I just wanted to type this somewhere.

Most of the people this applies to don't have the attention span to even read this and the topic will inevitably be spammed with "TLDR" or just not replied to at all but I don't really care. I'm bored as all hell at work and typing this just shaved 20 mins off the clock

If my gf asked me to suck a dildo, would I?

Never.
I can see where people could rationalize, "well I am lubing it up for her".
But theres the problem, if she needs a dildo that just means you are insufficient.
(Aka your dick isnt enough for her)

I have prided myself on a sexual experience that isnt greedy. Many men only strive for their own orgasm, I always hold off until I am sure my own partner has been pleasured. If you dont have amazing sexual stamina, you can always learn to finger for the g-spot, or learn proper oral.

I've put my all into it for my sexual career and I have a pretty high approval rating. Many women say that no ones even gives them oral and several have told me I'm the best they've ever had.

Autism doesn't mean anything. I'm on the autistic spectrum because my verbal iq is 154 but spatial iq is 103. This difference causes me to not use spatial information naturally, so growing up I didn't look at people's faces. Only reason I do have a diagnosis was because in medical school my weakness became apparent when working with motor skills and other spatial tasks. You would have no idea I was on the spectrum if you spoke to me.

The point is, autism rates has increased because the definition of autism has changed, and because societal expectaions are more mentally demanding, in school and in social dynamics

More like this generation got screwed. We saw previous generations get hard work for fair pay, but we get the opposite. Everything is unaffordable, wages are down, and they expect us to work 24/7. No thanks.

What is it that I'm out of touch with? These are first hand experiences. I've lived in Miami, New York, Baltimore, DC, New Jersey, and Philadelphia and have interacted with many young people. In most cases they kinda just suck overall to converse and interact with.

The only problem is most of the people they interact with also suck so they don't even know it.

If 2 people are having conversation and constantly have pauses where they're both just scrolling or typing on their phones with a blank expression, not even really in the room with one another, neither of them is gonna see a problem. I've seen my gf and her friends do this countless times

As someone who doesn't spend much time on their phone at all, I don't see it as a good thing

I don't want to invalidate your point or your experiences but encountering people who have difficulty making eye contact is something I've encountered much much more often in recent years. That's not because it wasn't being diagnosed by doctors, it simply wasn't happening.

Literally every generation in history thinks this about the younger generation. You're not special and neither are they.

https://www.bbc.com/worklife/article/20171003-proof-that-people-have-always-complained-about-young-adults

Also remember that an increase in people being diagnosed with something doesn't mean they're more common now. Previously they'd just be written off as being weird.

The mental health thing is a double-edged sword. The good thing is that there is more awareness around it and are moving past the damaging "just suck it up" mentality of boomers. The bad thing is that every little thing that makes people feel bad is a fucking crisis and shuts them down. I teach at a university, and I don't know how half of my students are going to cope with an actual job/career/life.

Probably just a more common diagnosis as it's better understood now. That's not something you can blame on millennials or Gen Z.
Like I said, I'm not blaming anyone. The fact is that many more people you interact with are on the spectrum. And noticably so, through their behavior. Not because they happen to have the papers to prove it now

It seems like by diagnosing so many people it gives them the mentality of being a victim of circumstances and makes them think it's something they can never overcome. So they almost just lean into being weird. Some even more annoyingly wear being weird as a badge of honor of sorts, and seem to equate being weird with being interesting

I didn't do that. I simply listed rising rates of autism (which is documented) as one of the many things that young people this generation have to deal with

I look at it this way:

Mental health is like physical health, in that there are different thresholds of discomfort.

You're having mental health problems? Okay, is it a mental health runny nose, a mental health sprained ankle, or a mental health ruptured spleen? If it's the first, you can go to class/work/get through your day with minimal discomfort. If it's the second, it's going to hinder you, not allowing you to do some things, but you can still do others. If it's the third, you need to seek help immediately.

The problem with my students is that they treat the runny nose like a ruptured spleen

I don't know if actual autism is more commonplace now.

It might just be that it's being diagnosed more now. Also, in the old days, autistic people either had to adapt to normal life, or die. now they're able to live, no matter how autistic they are.

I think a lot of kids just want more than anything to feel like they aren't just common, generic people.

They latch onto anything that makes them feel special and unique.
