It's a good game. but there are a lot of dead ends, and a lot of doors that only open if you buy some random trinket, and lots of branching paths that take you away from your actual objective.

Like I just spent 3 hours roaming around the place with Darkbeast Paarl before googling that shit and realizing it's a nothing area not connected to anything else, and my actual objective was just something I missed from 2 areas ago.

I dig exploration in games, but I feel like a lot of the exploration hasn't really paid off in this game.

Also why tf can't I teleport from any lantern? I don't wanna go back to the hunters dream every time. From always seems to regress with bonfire/lantern mechanics lol.

The Darkbeast Paarl area is optional and has an obtuse requirement for reaching it anyway

Functioning as designed. Disorientation and isolation are what Miyazaki said Souls and his Souls-like games are intended to be. Oh, you may die a lot too.

haven't played sekiro, but not a single game since (and inclluding) demon's has been free of some unnecessary fast travel/consumable/level up restriction. elden ring save us.

Demons and DS1+3 didnt do this, his criticism is correct. BB is a good game but has the worst works layout.

Given the all the weird and slightly unsettling stuff that happened in Bloodborne, Id imagine to some degree that the layout was supposed to be confusing and meandering.
