Sue Bird is 5'9 and for a period of time was taller than several of the Japanese women on the court. So I think several players on that team are in the 5'3-5'7 range. --- Hey now. ... Height matters a bit less in women's basketball because the hoop height is the same as men and its incredibly rare for even professional WNBA players to be tall enough to easily dunk because they are shorter and can't jump as high even if they are of equal height. The average height of WNBA players is about 5'11". The average height for men is 6'6". The hoop height being the same means that they play dramatically different styles of games which is why the Japanese women were able to get to the final game despite being so short. ...
