No actually its the opposite. He says people should not get angry when his videos don't become shitty B movies and instead its a simpler episode. Apparently some weirdos actually prefer the B movie episodes

The Screenwave people are hacks and losers but if this is what James wants and the channel is 100% of his income, then whatever I'm not butthurt over it.

I just don't find the recent era of AVGN to be anywhere as good as the older stuff. It is what it is in all honesty.

I think James had to switch up his videos to accommodate today's generation. If he's stuck with classic AVGN, a lot of newer fans wouldn't like his content. What he used to do in 2006 wouldn't fly in on today's youtube.

Tbh dude has been doing cringe inducing jokes and skits since the very beginning.

My biggest problem with his newer stuff is that there isn't any heart put into it anymore. He's not playing the games, he's not making the scripts, and he isn't directing the videos. His older videos felt "real". AVGN wasn't a "character" people just thought that's how James was.

Now I will say that his newer stuff past 2015 isn't really that bad. Videos like Resident Evil and Pepsiman come to mind.

It's probably a combination of both. He probably does some of the playing to see what it's about, writes shit, and gets help with writing other stuff (especially the history of games or franchises) and playing difficult levels

I just started watching him a couple months ago and it seems like he still is in on it a good bit to me

Clearly the Screenwave people should be doing all of that work to make life easier for him. Not only that, the point of AVGN was taking about games, movies and franchises he cared about as a kid

Ghostbusters, TMNT, Dick Tracey , Castkecabuavabua etc

sure he was performing but he was performing what he felt and remembered as a kid

With the exceptions of Contra, LTTP and FF6 there's no games from his childhood left

How can you be passionate about random shitty retro games you played for the first time in your 40s that you don't care about and have nothing to say about?

Look at Earthbound and Megaman to see more modem AVGN vids were he actually had an emotion to play off

Crazy thing is, THIS was considered at one point the new era of AVGN where he was running out of NES games to review and branched out into 90s era gaming.

Allegedly he got mad that he made very little money off Bootsy Beats and Board James. AS well as music he made for the Channel (Bootsy, not Kyle). Then when he suggested new ideas for videos and content Mike got mad and told him to fuck off.

He never signed a contract or anything and was just doing it for fun with friends. Then when the videos exploded and they were selling DVDs and went mad with ads in videos/sponsors. He got upset that they didn't include him at all in the profit and fell out with James and Mike over it

This is his primary source of income and he's a father. That settles it. He's not going to kick out the questionable film crew or limit the number of videos he makes so that he only puts out top quality content. He needs to make videos to support himself and his family.

I'll concede that a tour video wasn't the best place to address the critics, but it's not like he really has a choice on the number of videos he has to put out or the compromises that come with monetized videos.

He does address that he ultimately gets the final say in the script and everything. The only thing I think AVGN is not aging well because he's doing reviews on video games that is not part of his childhood, so the passion isn't really there anymore.
