The whole point of these fun fantasy scenarios, picking between one and the other, limited choices etc, is to think about what your priorities are and talk about them.

OF COURSE if people could, they'd have unlimited wishes, or both the superpower and the money, etc. The point isn't for you to be some loophole pseudo-expert like a little kid trying to cheat in a board game. "There's nothing in the rules that says I can't turn off the lights during your turn". Yeah that's true but it defeats the whole point of the game. We're not playing "who can think of ways to ruin this game the most", we're playing a game.

I've never once seen an answer like that and thought the person was clever. It's like they're playing their own game of feeling clever for themselves. No shit people would wish for unlimited wishes, the whole point of asking is for you to make a decision. Just play the game.

Nah I see at least 3 people per topic like this who think they're geniuses for figuring out how to get both.

Not necessarily the genie question but stuff like "flight or $2 million", there are always people that are like "use flight to make more than $2 million". And then the OP has to put stuff like "no loopholes" because there are always people that want to impress themselves with how clever they look to others, when really they are socially unaware of what is being asked of them.

It'd be silly not to get as many wishes as possible, especially since you won't know before you start wishing if there are rules or tricks to the process that haven't been disclosed.

IRL if you (a fairy tale character) did something that stupid you generally not only didn't get it but a horrible curse got put on you or something like that.

The best example of a guy who thought he was being clever when he found a way to cheat the system is Sisyphus. That's basically what your future holds if you wish for unlimited wishes.

Assuming 3 wishes total

1. No one ever remembers me for longer than an hour; all previous memories of me wiped.

2. Ability to pull any amount of any currency out of any pocket I reach into, that i want.

3. Immortality/Invulnerability until I choose to be vulnerable.

Walk around for as long as I want paying for people's things. Spend a day at a car dealership buying everyone a new car, and no one would ever remember how they got it. Stand at a gas station and pay for everyone to fill up their tank. Give homeless people 100's of dollars for food, clothing, and lodging.

I'd become the saint of BS.

This is kinda what I mean. Closing loopholes is the objectively obvious thing to do. Do you know anyone that wants loopholes? It's not business advice for a car or house deal or something; that's when that kind of advice helps.

The point someone would ask you a fantasy question like this (or a 'would you rather') is to hear your interesting fictional decision in your life and compare it with others/their own thought process.

If someone asked me "what's the first thing you're going to do in Italy", yeah obviously "get off the plane" is the first thing I'm going to do, but they're not asking that. I obviously need to get off the plane to do anything else. They are asking me what I'm choosing to do first.

It just comes off as smart alec-y and it misses the fun of hypothesizing stuff like this.

Except in this case I'd wager that most users here are familiar with enough fiction/folklore or even corrupt a wish topics to be cautious about accepting wishes from some magic device when they know very well that they can backfire and make one's life a living hell.

There's no real fun to hypothesizing wishes when you suspect they'll bite you in the ass at the first opportunity.

I'm not even necessarily talking about the wish scenario, it was just the most common loophole for the most common question like this, I was addressing the behavior moreso.

Also, if you have trust issues from a fictional genie in a fictional scenario, maybe take a breather and just run with your imagination? Unless the prompt says "this genie will look to corrupt your wishes", there's no reason to assume otherwise.
