I mean he shares a study that found that 8% of high school seniors don't know that the Civil War was fought over slavery.

exactly, we don't teach it properly hence me saying "solid grasp on US history"

I have no idea what criticsk race theory is, but considering race doesn't exist I doubt it holds any merit at all

People don't like feeling guilty for things they had nothing to do with. Who knew

White guilt is a huge part of it but the problem is not wanting to admit that one race has benefited from generations of privelidge. Instead people want to pretend that their prestige is attributed to them pulling themselves up by their bootstraps rather than even entertaining the idea that their ancestors rose to prominence because of racial bias in the US.
