TC from what I know people with degree has a better chance of getting high end jobs compared to people without degree. People with degree they learn skills that people without degree lacks.

Let me make it easier:

People without degree
Unemployed = high chance
low paid job = high chance
high paid job = low chance to no chance

People with degree
Unemployed = low chance
low paid job = high chance
high paid job = high chance

You really don't know what people would give to be able to get a degree or how frustrating it is to not have one.

I don't think having a degree guarantees you have a high chance of being employed.

Plenty of high paying jobs that require no degree. Just tends to involve physical labor and maybe starting at the bottom of the totem pole getting paid a bit less. People are just afraid of physical labor I guess.

Best friend is a high school drop out and he installs Windows for a living. He lives in Detroit but from pictures and video chats ive had with him he lives in a neighborhood I never woulda thought existed in Detroit based on how nice it looks. Like he ain't rich but he lives in a 2 story house in a clean safer neighborhood

he must have a lot of connections. How can someone make a living out of installing windows? How many local companies can need that? How does he even hear about the gigs? Lol

He works for a company that tells him about said gigs. Hes a sub contractor bit working directly for a company. And its mostly residential he does. New houses are being built all the time too.

And nah he had 1 connection to get him started his gfs dad did it and hired him since then hes moved on from him even started his own crew

Nah I was showing my point that there are plenty of physical labor jobs where you can end up living pretty decent. People just don't wanna have to physical labor.

And thats a shame. When I worked construction I was in decent shape and slept like a baby every night. Physical labor jobs got pros aside from getting paid.

Id be fine with UBI if there was still major incentive to work. Like UBI just mostly covering necessities and a job was for being able to afford other things like that 50 inch tv you might want or the next gen video game console

Id have a entertainment allowance im the UBI cause I feel entertainment is important I just wouldnt have it be a lot.

You see man I can respect this because I had similar career arc...got a soft major then transitioned into a completely different field in tech cause I couldn't really do much with my history degree outside of academia. What I find a problem with is this clown somehow thinks he's entitled to gainful employment just because he has a degree without putting any effort into developing an actual useful skillset. It's a lazy mindset and I'm surprised so many people are supporting it

Well yeah, that's what the "basic" implies and what the point of UBI is, it covers the costs of basic necessities.

Ok. All I really knew was it was free money lol. But UBI is gonna take a lot of work. Cause of you give me a UBI that would let me live fine in cali id be very well off over here. I wouldnt need to work.

IMO there should be a figure tied to the cost of living for a single person in a specific state (averaged from the different cities/counties there).

said number would be used to establish the minimum wage for each state and the UBI amount for each state.

if you live on CA you number would be far higher than in IA, for example

Shit even im state if you give me what it takes to live in a bigger city id be doing pretty decent. People in some cities here pay more for their rent then i do for all my bills combined. Id say cost of living needs to be leveled across the field but I understand why places have higher cost of living. More desirable to live there do to more jobs more things to do like malls theatres clubs and other venues of entertainment etc.
