Hes made a mess of things and backed himself into a corner. With all the plot threads he has going now I think he probably would like to write three more books to finish the series, which just isnt possible at his current pace. No. There is The Nights King who was a human that lived many years before the book series begins that was lord commander of the Nights Watch, likely had some sort of child sacrifice deal with the others, and may have even taken an other as a mate. He was killed by Stark forces for crimes against nature or whatever theyd call it in Westeros. However, there is talk of The Great Other, so who knows.
